I am so thrilled to write about the passage of Proposition 2 in California this week!! Despite Agribusiness pouring $9 million into the No on Prop 2 campaign, the historic measure passed by a significant margin (63% to 37%), showing that Californians believe in the humane treatment of animals.Prop 2 ends the practice of confining breeding pigs, egg-laying hens, and veal calves in crates and cages so tiny they can't even turn around or stretch their limbs. Not only will the measure end suffering for more than 20 million animals, but the hope is that it will also have a ripple effect across the country. Also, animals have an ally in President Elect Obama!!
